BEGINNING MONOLOGUE
You've mastered the fundamentals and you're ready to start auditioning. What's next?
Designed for our Core Level students, ASC's Beginning Monologue course is ideal for those looking to start or expand upon their arsenal of audition material. Throughout this five-week course, you will learn tips and tricks to source and rehearse a monologue for an audition. You will complete the course with a piece that is unique, exciting, and shows off your dynamic range as a performer.
Drawing on Shurtleff’s 12 Guideposts, your instructor will guide you through:
-
Breaking down your text to find strong actions, dramatic build, and direct storytelling.
-
Creating a clear and specific imaginary partner.
-
Keeping yourself grounded in the room.
At the end of this course, students will have one new polished piece in their back pocket to present to agents, casting associates, and directors.
Required: ASC's Core Program Level 3 or equivalent prior training/experience, as determined by the ASC office.
